The dynamics of free radical polymerization of styrene and on-line control of temperature in a cooling jacketed batch polymerization reactor is investigated. The benzoyl peroxide initiator is introduced into the reactor once at the beginning of the reaction to obtain the desired monomer conversion and the desired average chain length in a minimum reaction time. The optimal constant set temperature, which is generally realized in industrial applications, and the set profile are used as two different optimal operating conditions. The temperature control of the polymerization reactor is achieved experimentally and theoretically. The control of nonlinear systems has progressed considerably, and various nonlinear process model based control techniques have appeared in the literature. The problem is how to tune the controller in order to obtain comparable closed loop responses. Generic model control (GMC) is applied and the performance of the control results are compared with the previously published control results.  相似文献

Adsorption of cationic polyacrylamide onto sepiolite   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
The adsorption of PAM onto sepiolite from aqueous solutions has been investigated systematically as a function of some parameters such as calcination temperature of sepiolite, pH, ionic strength and temperature. The adsorption of cationic polyacrylamide (PAM) increases with pH from 5.50 to 11.00, temperature from 25 to 55 degrees C and ionic strength from 0 to 0.1molL(-1). The sepiolite sample calcined at 200 degrees C has a higher adsorption capacity than the other calcined samples. Adsorption isotherms of PAM onto sepiolite have been determined and correlated with common isotherm equations such as Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models. The Langmuir isotherm model appeared to fit the isotherm data better than the Freundlich isotherm model. The physical properties of this adsorbent are consistent with the parameters obtained from the isotherm equations. The zeta potentials of sepiolite suspensions have been measured in aqueous solutions of NaCl and different PAM concentrations and pH. From the experimental results: (i) pH strongly alters the zeta potential of sepiolite, (ii) sepiolite has an isoelectric point at about pH 6.6 in water and about pH 8 in 250mgL(-1) PAM concentration, (iii) PAM changes the interface charge from negative to positive for sepiolite. Effect of temperature on adsorption has been quantified by calculating various thermodynamic parameters such as Gibbs free energy, enthalpy and entropy. The dimensionless separation factor (R(L)) has shown that sepiolite can be used for adsorption of PAM from aqueous solutions.  相似文献

In this paper, an 8-bit 1.2 Gsample/s single-slope ADC architecture is presented. The proposed technique utilizes the picosecond-accurate phases of a rotary traveling wave oscillator (RTWO). The proof-of-concept test chip is fabricated in a 0.18-μm CMOS process and occupies 1.3 mm  ×  1.3 mm of die area. Power consumption is 36 mW for the core and 135 mW for on-chip clocks.  相似文献

This research article aims to study the effect of CdO addition on the radiation shielding characteristics of boro-tellurite glasses in the composition of 50B2O3 - (50-x) TeO2- xCdO, where x = 0, 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 mol%. These glasses were exposed to gamma radiation and the transmitted gamma photons were evaluated for energies varying from 15 keV to 15 MeV using Geant4 simulation toolkit. The number of transmitted photons was then used to characterize the gamma shielding for the studied glasses in terms of linear/mass attenuation coefficients, MFP, Zeff, and HVL. The simulation outcomes were theoretically confirmed by using Phy-X software. The beta (electron) shielding characterization of the involved glasses was also investigated by determining the projectile range and stopping power using ESTAR software. Additionally, the fast neutron shielding characterization of the glasses was achieved by evaluating removal cross-section (ΣR). The results reveal that the CdO has a small influence on the shielding performance of the boro-tellurite glasses against gamma, beta, and neutron radiations. The shielding performance of the boro-tellurite glasses was compared with that of common shielding materials in terms of MFP. It can be concluded that the boro-tellurite glasses regardless of the concentration of CdO content have promising shielding performance to be used for radiation applications.  相似文献

The emergence, historical and recent developments of phenolic resins are reviewed. The history of the invention of the first man made plastics and a short bibliography of the inventor Leo H. Baekeland is provided. Moreover, the basic chemistry of phenol-formaldehyde resins, as synthesis of resol and novolak, their structures, variations, and curing are discussed. Modification of these resins and molecular designs for specific applications in retro perspective are highlighted. This review also provides a comprehensive account on the development of benzoxazine resins as an alternative to classical phenolics. In addition to the benzoxazine synthesis and their curing mechanism, special monomers and polybenzoxazine precursors as curable thermoplastics are reviewed. Besides classical chemicals, the potential of renewables for phenolic resin production is also highlighted. Finally, the relative advantages and disadvantages of these systems are discussed and their future potentials are presented.  相似文献
